Below is a list of the most common credits and fees you may encounter when using City CarShare.

Fees
Late Fees
Our late fees are high to discourage folks from inconveniencing other members. The fee is $20 for every ½ hour you're late. If you let us know you'll be late, we'll cut the fee in half. And if there isn't another reservation waiting for your car, you can always extend and no penalty fee applies. Reservation Extension
There is no charge to extend your reservation, except for the additional time you reserve. Shortening or Cancelling
We're pretty flexible. Usually there is no charge for shortening or canceling a reservation. If someone cancels or shortens a reservation with less than five hours notice we just charge a $4 fee. If it's less than one hour notice, the fee is $10. That's to encourage folks to only make reservations they actually need, so the cars will be available when you need them. If you bring your car back early, it may or may not make financial sense to shorten your reservation. You have to do a little math to figure it out. No-Show Fee
If you don't show up for your reservation, you'll be charged for the time you reserved the car PLUS estimated mileage charges of 6 miles per reservation hour. If you don't show up for an Extended Freedom Trip, you'll be charged $40 plus 60 cents for each hour of your reservation. Less-Than-Half-Tank Fee
Returning a car with less than half a tank of gas is a $10 flat fee. Dirty-Car Fee
Returning an excessively dirty car is a $20 flat fee. Remember, neither pets nor smoking are allowed in our vehicles. If you smoke, you may be charged additional cleaning charges as well. Credits
Car Wash Credit
If the car you pick up is dirty and you take the time to get it cleaned, we'll happily credit your account up to $15 for the cost of the wash. Just send us your dated receipt along with your member I.D. and reservation number. Gas Credit
Did you need to pay for gas out of pocket? We'll reimburse you for the entire cost. All we need is a dated receipt along with your member I.D. and reservation number. Inconvenience Credit
If you show up for a reservation and your car isn't there, we'll reimburse you up to $30 to cover taxi rides, BART fare, or the added cost of a car rental. Please call us to discuss your situation. |
