City CarShare Turns 5 Years OldIt's nice to be 5 years old. Since 2001, our 5,000 members have been helping to reduce traffic, parking problems, and dependence on oil--while promoting cleaner air, quieter streets, and more open space. Sound like a good reason to celebrate? We did! On June 1, 2006, the members and friends of City CarShare gathered at boca: The Bar of Contemporary Art, in San Francisco, to celebrate 5 years of improving the quality of life for all residents of the Bay Area. And to make it really special, we took the opportunity to thank and honor some very special friends with our 2006 "Golden Fob" Awards. Honorees
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi Partner of the Year Accepting the award for "Partner of the Year" will be House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for her work on advocating for City CarShare on the federal level. A long-time City CarShare supporter, Congresswoman Pelosi worked tirelessly to include City CarShare in the recent federal transportation bill. Matt Nichols & the City of Berkeley Innovators of the Year We are thrilled to honor Principal Transportation Planner Matt Nichols & the City of Berkeley as "Innovators of the Year" for their pioneering work on city fleet replacement with City CarShare. We also bid a fond farewell to the last of City CarShare's green Beetles and officially welcome the Prius to our fleet! The green Beetles were a fun emblem of our past.
